Melania Trump took to social media in a new video to promote her new book and defend her past nude modeling. Melania apparently feels like her two nude spreads from 25+ years ago are under attack by the media, and she felt the need to defend her decision. It’s an odd choice, given that her husband is once against running for president. Her previous career milestones aren’t under fire and come off a bit awkward.
Former first lady Melania Trump defends her nude modeling
Melania Trump only modeled nude twice, once in a French magazine in 1995 that’s no longer in publication and once in British GQ in 2000. Both occasions were before she married Donald Trump and long before his presidency.
In the video on X, Melania stated:
“Why do I stand proudly behind my nude modeling work? The more pressing question is: Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photo shoot? Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body? Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration. We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression.”
Melania Trump did face some scrutiny about her nude modeling in the 2016 election, notably when the New York Post published several photos. However, it wasn’t a significant issue in the 2020 elections, and we can’t find any evidence that the media has made it a talking point in 2024.
Given that Melania has been quiet during this election, it’s odd that she chose this topic to speak about. In contrast, her response to the first assassination attempt on her husband only garnered a 1-and-1/4-page letter. Strangely, she didn’t publish a response to the second at all.
Don’t get it twisted; we’re not shaming the former First Lady for her modeling work at all. It’s just odd that it’s the topic she chose to address right now.
