Republican Candidate Mark Robinson Hasn’t Dropped Out of NC Governor Race Despite Disturbing Adult Forum Comments

Comments allegedly made by Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate for governor of North Carolina, on an adult internet forum have surfaced. Robinson, who would be the first Black governor of North Carolina if elected, is accused of making racist, sexist, misogynistic, transphobic, and homophobic remarks between 2008 and 2012 as a member of the forum.

Despite substantial evidence linking him to the account, Robinson has adamantly denied ownership, calling it a “complete fiction,” and stated he will not withdraw from the race. Although he has received backing from former President Donald Trump, North Carolina Republicans are already distancing themselves from Robinson. The Trump campaign has yet to issue a statement on the matter.

A CNN KFile exposé alleges that an account belonging to Mark Robinson regularly participated in discussions on an adult forum called Nude Africa between 2008 and 2012. While active on the forum, Robinson reportedly made comments that were not only bigoted but also revealed hypocrisy in relation to his public statements.

Robinson has been outspoken about his belief that people should only use bathrooms corresponding with the gender they’re assigned at birth. He has expressed concerns that transgender women should be arrested for using women’s restrooms to “protect our women.”

However, in contrast to his transphobic desire to protect women, Robinson allegedly recounted his excitement at watching women shower through a vent when he was 14 years old, commenting under the username minisoldr on Nude Africa.

Additionally, despite criticizing transgender individuals, he apparently expressed interest in adult content featuring transgender women. In another post, he reportedly stated, “I like watching t***y on girl porn! That’s f***ing hot! It takes the man out while leaving the man in!”

Robinson has also been vocal about his anti-abortion stance during his political career, supporting a “heartbeat” bill that would outlaw abortion once a heartbeat is detected, with exceptions for incest, rape, and the mother’s health. However, in December 2010, in a discussion about a celebrity having an abortion, Robinson allegedly wrote, “I don’t care. I just wanna see the sex tape!”

The same account also made racist statements such as:

  • I’m a black NAZI!
  • Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it (slavery) back. I would certainly buy a few.
  • I’d take Hitler over any of the s**t that’s in Washington right now! (Referring to President Obama)

The above are just a few of Robinson’s greatest hits. Despite stating the story is a “complete fiction,” CNN presents a long list of compelling evidence that the minisoldr account belongs to Robinson.

As of writing, Robinson has consistently polled behind North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein. He blamed the Stein camp for leaking information about him to CNN and stated, “Folks, this race right now, our opponents are desperate to shift the focus here from the substantive issues and focus on what you are concerned with to salacious tabloid trash.”

Stein’s campaign fired back, “North Carolinians already know Mark Robinson is completely unfit to be governor,” and commented that Stein “remains focused on winning this campaign so that together we can build a safer, stronger North Carolina for everyone.”

In a presidential race polling this close, Republicans may not be willing to contend with the kind of baggage Robinson is carrying. His fellow Republicans are already turning on him, and it may not be long before national party leaders weigh in. Although Trump won North Carolina in the last two elections, the margins were close enough that the Republican presidential candidate might consider revoking his endorsement of Robinson.
