In the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was in a coma during the zombie outbreak that devastated the world. Therefore, we never saw how civilization fell to the horde of undead walkers.
The upcoming Walking Dead prequel series, Fear The Walking Dead is going to change that. It takes place in Los Angeles at the earliest stages of the zombie apocalypse. So far, AMC hasn’t even shown a zombie from Fear The Walking Dead. But in the very first preview scene from the new series, we learn that the zombies have appeared in other states before reaching California.
The preview also gives viewers their first glimpse of Madison (Kim Dickens), a high school guidance counselor who is also the female lead of this series.

Madison’s son, Nick (Frank Dillane) was featured in last week’s Fear The Walking Dead teaser. The series revolves around Madison, and her significant other, Travis (Cliff Curtis) as they try to protect their family amidst the chaos. Alycia Debnam-Carey plays Madison’s daughter, Alicia; while Lorenzo James Henrie plays Travis’ son, Chris, and Elizabeth Rodriguez portrays Travis’ ex-wife, Liza.
Fear The Walking Dead will premiere in August on AMC.
