Last season on “Game of Thrones,” Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) finally found the Three-Eyed Raven (Struan Rodger) beyond the wall alongside his faithful companion, Hodor (Kristian Nairn) and their guide, Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick). Meera’s brother, Jojen (Thomas Sangster) wasn’t quite as lucky and he was killed off shortly beforehand.
Bran’s “Game of Thrones’ Season 3 storyline was taken from A Dance With Dragons, the fifth novel of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. That means that the show has already run through as many stories as it can with Bran until Martin finishes the sixth novel.
According to Nairn, the “Game of Thrones” creative team is getting around that problem by giving him a year off. While speaking to Yahoo News, Nairn said “We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books. So, I get my year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.”

In case you were wondering, Rave of Thrones is part of Nairn’s second career as a DJ. Presumably, Nairn’s absence means that Hempstead-Wright and Kendrick will also sit out the fifth season.
MTV News contacted HBO regarding the original report and they supposedly received a one word response from the premium network: “Hodor.”
“Game of Thrones” Season 5 will premiere on HBO in Spring 2015.
