The Flash has one of the largest range of supervillains in comics, but the creative team behind the upcoming TV adaptation won’t be content with just using Flash villains.
E! Online is reporting that Kelly Frye will portray Bette Sans Souci aka Plastique on “The Flash.” As created by Gerry Conway and Pat Broderick, Plastique was originally a Quebec-separatist terrorist who eventually gained the power to create explosions. Plastique even joined the Suicide Squad and she essentially reformed when she became the lover of Captain Atom. Plastique even appeared on “Smallville,” with Jessica Parker Kennedy in the role.
For “The Flash,” Plastique has been re-envisioned as “an Iraq war veteran and bomb squad expert caught in the meltdown of Central City’s Star Labs.” That incident gives Plastique the power to turn anything into an explosive device and makes her the target of a shadow government organization that wants to weaponize her.

The comic book Plastique was originally a Firestorm villainess, which may actually come up on “The Flash.” Former “The Tomorrow People” star Robbie Amell has already been cast as Ronnie Raymond, aka one-half of Firestorm. It’s not currently known if Plastique and Firestorm will appear in the same episode of “The Flash,” but it would callback to their history together if it happens that way.
Prior to “The Flash,” Frye co-starred on the Fox drama “Rake” and made appearances in “Body of Proof,” “The Mentalist,” NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Life” and “House.”
“The Flash” will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, October 7.
