Emmy Awards 2014: Event Update # 1

The Emmy Awards voters have a long history of picking the same shows and actors year after year. This is why “The West Wing” and “Mad Men” have won so many Outstanding Drama awards. But this year, things may be different.
 
HBO has placed “True Detective” into the Emmys as a drama, which has set up an epic showdown between “Breaking Bad” and “True Detective” across all of the major drama categories. For the first time in years, there’s actual drama behind the Emmys themselves and the winners aren’t a foregone conclusion.
