Danny Pudi Says Hulu Has Until The End of June To Save 'Community'

Last month, NBC canceled “Community” after five seasons. However, Hulu has emerged as a potential savior for “Community” as negotiations with Sony TV continue.

During E3, IGN asked “Community” star Danny Pudi for an update on the “Community” Hulu negotiations. And according to Pudi, the future of “Community” has to be decided by the end of June.

“I’m hearing whatever you’re hearing,” explained Pudi.” I was just telling someone, I think we have until the end of June to have an official word, but I kind of expect to hear, like everybody else does: through my mom on Twitter. That’s how I know I’m going to find out on June 29th, my mom calling me or tweeting me and being like, “Dan, guess what? You are on Hulu! Are you a Hulu actor now?” So when my mom tweets, ‘Are you a Hulu actor?’ you’ll know it’s real.”

Presumably the deadline at the end of June is tied to the contract status of the “Community” cast. If talks with Hulu fall through, the next viable option would be Comedy Central; which owns the cable syndication rights for “Community.” But there have been no reports that Comedy Central is actively looking to revive “Community” for an additional season.

Pudi was in Los Angeles alongside his former “Community” co-star Donald Glover to promote Ubisoft’s Far Cry 4. And while Glover sidestepped the question of whether he would be up for reprising his role as Troy, he did say that “I love that character. Who doesn’t? Who watches the show and doesn’t want — because Troy and Abed were a fun part of it. I mean, I always liked the Dean the most, personally, but I think the gang is really fun to see together. So yeah, I’d be down to do something.”

During last weekend’s Producers Guild of America’s Produced By conference, “The Walking Dead” executive producer David Alpert said that “I happen to love working from source material, specifically because we have a pretty good idea of what Season 10 is gonna be. The CW has released a new video preview of “The Flash” that takes a look at three of the main supporting players. NBC Is Developing a Beatles Event Series

NBC is developing an eight episode event series centered on the Beatles: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
