Kim Jones, world traveler and head designer for Louis Vuitton put all of his ideas gathered from across the world into the spring summer 2016 collection. After visiting 15 countries this year, his travel obsession certainly shows. Recently while in Japan he discovered Kobe leather (named after those same cows celebrated for their prized beef) and incorporated these sun-dried hides into the collection’s jackets.

Continuing on his journey of inspiration, Jones played with embroideries. There were satin souvenir jackets with embroidered cranes that made it’s way from Japan, embroidered birds of paradise from Indonesia and from China, even a red silk Hawaiian shirt with embroidered monkeys. Each piece more contemporary than the last, Jones perfected trim suiting in tropical wool and light weight coats made of paper-thin lamb skin leather backed in organza. Now that’s the kind of luxury real fans of the brand have come to expect.
Jones continues to be an innovator taking the brand to new levels. He even created a new kind of pebble-dashed, hand-painted camp print for three of the perfectly cut jackets. This youthful collection is made from some of the most precious materials imaginable and is right on trend, while doubly creating an entirely new direction in menswear.
