As recently as May the creator of Arrested Development Mitch Hurwitz confirmed that a fifth season of the show was still definitely in the pipeline for the not-too-distant future.
Now, whilst on a Netflix Panel at the Television Critics Association press tour, Hurwitz has revealed that filming for the new season could start early in 2017.
“If it does happen, it looks like the shooting will start at the beginning of 2017,” said Hurwitz. “It’s the thing I’m really desperate to do. We’ve got a lot of the stories broke and we’re ready to go.”
Apparently a lot of what has already been written has been about Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump. “We were putting up a wall before Trump was. There were so many things like that. We had a political race that was going to continue in the fifth season,” Hurwitz revealed back in May.
“A lot of people thought what Trump was doing was the more they try to self-destruct because they don’t want office, the more the crowd gathers around them. Which was a viable theory about Trump.”
For now, we wait for the writers to cook up their collective ideas – and hope that season five comes out just right.
