Fox News host Joe Concha urged Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell to return to office or resign amid his long absence. McConnell has been missing from the Capitol building since he was hospitalized in mid-June following a fall. However, his team has kept much of his health information private.
Joe Concha says Mitch McConnell should return in September or step down
Host Joe Concha recently took over his show, “The Big Weekend Show” on Fox News, and demanded that Senator Mitch McConnell return to the office as soon as possible after nearly three months of absence.
Concha referred to the Kentucky Senator and warned him. He stated, “If he does not come back in September, he needs to step down. How many months has it been since we’ve even heard from him directly?” (via HuffPost). He also said he didn’t want to see any more “proof of life” photos of McConnell.
After a month of hospitalization, McConnell posted a photo of himself seated alongside his wife Elaine Chao and gave a statement on his health issues. In the statement, McConnell said that aside from the fall, pneumonia kept him from coming to work and performing his duties. He stated in the post, “My doctors have confirmed that I didn’t break any bones or suffer a concussion. I didn’t have a heart attack or a stroke. I don’t have any tumors or hemorrhages. But I was briefly unconscious and was taken to the hospital. I’ll keep working hard to get back on the Senate floor as soon as possible.”
On his show, Concho added that McConnell needs to address the Senate and “prove that he can do this job.”
In August, a statement from the Senator’s office revealed that, on a doctor’s advice, McConnell will “maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy” from home (via The Independent).
