JD Vance’s family feud with Abdul El-Sayed grew even louder after his mother delivered a fiery response. Beverly Vance Aikins defended her son, Usha Vance and her grandchildren after El-Sayed made comments about the family.
The comments had already triggered public pushback from JD and Usha. Now, Beverly joined the dispute with some unusually blunt words of her own.
Beverly Vance Aikins angrily defended JD and Usha Vance while criticizing Abdul El-Sayed
Beverly called El-Sayed an “idiot” during an interview with OutKick’s Tomi Lahren. She also admitted she would “probably punch” him if they crossed paths. “I think that man’s an idiot,” Beverly said on the Fearless podcast.
The 65-year-old mother especially objected to El-Sayed describing her grandchildren as “brown kids.” She made it clear that she fiercely protects the children. “Those are my babies. I love those babies and would do anything for any of them,” Beverly said. “And I love Usha as if she were my own daughter.” She praised Usha as “one of the best, most genuine people I’ve ever met.” Beverly also called her a devoted wife and mother.
The controversy started months earlier during El-Sayed’s appearance on The Allen Analysis Show. He made a crude remark about Usha and questioned what she thought about her husband’s political statements.
“What do you think is going through Usha’s head when [the vice president] talks? She’s like, ‘Damn, I have to sleep with him,’” El-Sayed said. He also referenced the couple’s children and claimed JD would eventually face an uncomfortable conversation about his views.
JD later criticized El-Sayed during a rally, accusing him of supporting sharia law. El-Sayed disputed that accusation and responded by bringing JD’s marriage into the conversation. “Whatever you want to talk about, Abdul, keep my wife’s name the hell out of your mouth because she’s way out of your league,” JD said at a rally.
Usha also defended her husband’s family during an appearance on Fox & Friends. She said JD’s relatives had always treated her with love. The family history added another layer to the dispute. JD was raised by his grandparents while Beverly struggled with addiction, experiences he later described in Hillbilly Elegy.
Their relationship later improved. Beverly joined JD onstage at the 2024 Republican National Convention, where he introduced her as “10 years clean and sober.” She also attended his 2025 inauguration as vice president.
