Do not fuck with Run The Jewels. That’s the lesson learned at SXSW on Monday, as some poor idiot attempted to beat up Killer Mike onstage during the RTJ show in Austin during the annual SXSW music marathon. It did not go well.

A “fan” climbed onstage and headed right for El-P (or possibly his mic) before Killer Mike intercepted him. The crasher threw a punch and tried to chase after El-P, but Killer Mike & security were having none of it. He was immediately surrounded, and had a beating thrown at him before getting tossed offstage. He didn’t fare much better once the crowd enveloped him, either – but Killer Mike wasn’t done with him yet.
“We have no idea what that was,” El-P said according to a tweet from a fan in the crowd. “That was a FUCKBOY!,” Killer Mike responded, starting an enthusiastic “fuckboy” chant. “I stand corrected,” said El-P.
Run The Jewels finished their performance, and soon after El-P took to Twitter to apologize for the incident and clarify that it was their entourage who grabbed the man in the crowd. “Thanks to everyone who watched us rock the @Spotify house! Sorry for the brief interruption,” he wrote. “Those weren’t audience members fucking dude up that was our people. We are about peace but don’t make the mistake of thinking we are alone.”
