South Park Obliterates Kanye, Kardashian Culture in Season Finale

We’ve seen some truly fantastic animated takedowns on South Park lately, with Sinead O’Connor and Miley Cyrus getting their rightful lashes alongside a hilarious portrayal of Van Halen. Wednesday’s season finale took that ball and ran like hell with it, throwing a bucketful of bait at their favorite target, Kanye West

The immortally hilarious “Fishsticks” episode from Season 13 has a rival in the archives. Kanye returned last night to defend his fiancee Kim Kardashian against accusations that she’s a Hobbit.

Alongside clips of the ever-intensifying egomaniacal rapper stage crashing the Pope’s acceptance speech for Time’s Person of the Year and a brilliantly jabby take on Kanye’s “Bound 2″ video, the episode overflowed with takedowns of Kanye, Kardashian and her clan of sickeningly vapid culture assassins. Beneath the lampooning was an enormously poignant, sobering exposé on selfie culture and its impact on kids.

We won’t spoil it all for you, but part of the story Kanye tells Wendy at the end was raw genius – a perfect summary of the Rise of Kardashian: “Even though she was short, and fat, and hairy, this little hobbit dreamed that one day she could be pretty like Beyonce, and then one day, along came a magic power called Photoshop… and even though she couldn’t sing like Beyonce, or dance like Beyonce, or act like Beyonce, or be a decent human being like Beyonce, the little Hobbit was looked up to and loved, just like Beyonce.”

Given that Kanye has lashed out at South Park both lyrically (“Gorgeous”) and in blog rant form in the past, the world simply wouldn’t make any sense if he didn’t respond. Only time will tell.
