’Tis the season for radio concerts all across the nation, with the biggest artists on the FM dial making the radio station rounds on the annual holiday throwdowns. This past weekend the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas took over Los Angeles’ newly renovated Shrine Auditorium, where the likes of Queens of The Stone Age, Kings of Leon, Phoenix, Fitz & the Tantrums, Lorde, Portugal The Man and more rocked the airwaves over two nights.
Let’s get the “acoustic” concept out of the way – the annual show went electric many years ago, and exists in name only. That didn’t stop the event from being one for the archives, however, as 30-45 minute performances by the bands kept the energy tight and upbeat throughout both nights.
