So what if Arcade Fire is making a habit of doubling up on their videos? With a fantastic new album, it’s hard to complain about revisiting some of the best music of the year with a new set of visuals. After a double-shot of videos for Reflektor’s title track, we’ve now got a second visual to accompany “Afterlife”.
The video was directed by Emily Kai Bock, the eye behind the videos for Grimes’ “Oblivion” and Grizzly Bear’s “Yet Again”. In the clip, we’re treated to five minutes of a tense dinner table conversation, a laundromat discomfort, a bulldozer working in the dark, and a somber party scene… some pretty boring stuff, if we’re being honest. This video is visual Ambien. They’re lucky the song’s so damn good.
