Metallica made a hugely celebrated appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday (July 19), with the band attending a panel discussion on their new film ‘Metallica Through the Never,’ which hits IMAX theaters on Sept. 27 and is followed by a wide release on Oct. 4.

The band appeared along with the film’s director Nimrod Antal, producer Charlotte Huggins and lead actor Dane DeHaan to debut the clip in front of 6,500 excited fans. A new poster for the movie was also unveiled:
During a Q&A portion of their appearance, drummer Lars Ulrich shined a bit of light on the band’s plans for 2014-15. “We’ve had a couple of jams at HQ. [Next year] we’ll be all about a new Metallica record. In about another year and a half you’ll probably see one.”
