As informed culture begins to realize that Jay-Z’s Samsung Galaxy-based new album Magna Carta Holy Grail marks a breaking point for the rapper’s streetwise image and entry into corporate-shill overdosing, a dose of good news arrives by way of Jack White’s Third Man Records. In response to the question of why his track “Open Letter” didn’t make it on the tracklist for Magna Carta Holy Grail, Jay tweeted that the song would be available on “vinyl only, handled by Jack White.”
Later, in an interview with Hot 97, Hova further discussed the collaboration, saying, “It’s in a letter… you can play the letter… it’s amazing… You open the letter, and you can actually play the card.”
Yep, sounds like Jack White’s tinkering.
Third Man Records will also handle the entire vinyl release of Magna Carta Holy Grail, promising that the unique company “has something very special planned for the vinyl edition which will be made available for purchase in the coming weeks.”
