Now, “The Master of Horror” has returned to filmmaking (sort of) by directing and starring in a new music video/short film for “Christine,” an instrumental re-imagining of the title track of Carpenter’s 1983 horror film adaption of Stephen King’s novel about a possessed car.

“Electronica for a killer car,” said Carpenter in a press release. “Most of the soundtrack for Christine was 1950’s rock ’n roll (with a main title appearance of George Thorogood and the Destroyers’ ‘Bad to the Bone’). I filled in where necessary.”

“Christine” is one of 13 Carpenter-crafted movie compositions on Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, which also features themes from HalloweenAssault on Precinct 13They LiveThe Thing and more.

In addition, the cult auteur also added a couple dates to his upcoming tour, which kicks off in October.
