U2 is celebrating the 30th anniversary of their iconic album, The Joshua Tree, with a worldwide stadium tour that includes the Irish band’s first-ever U.S. festival headline appearance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.

A veteran band playing a favorite album in its entirety is not a new concept, but one gaining momentum, and for U2 it makes sense, giving fans not only a chance to enjoy The Joshua Tree favorites “With or Without You,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Where the Streets Have No Name,” but rare cuts like “Exit,” “Trip Through Your Wires” and “Red Hill Mining Town,” which will be the first time Bono, the Edge, Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton have performed the song live.
“Recently I listened back to The Joshua Tree for the first time in nearly 30 years… it’s quite an opera,” says Bono in a press statement announcing the tour. “A lot of emotions which feel strangely current, love, loss, broken dreams, seeking oblivion, polarisation… all the greats… I’ve sung some of these songs a lot… but never all of them. I’m up for it, if our audience is as excited as we are… it’s gonna be a great night.”
U2 also announced an impressive roster of rotating opening acts for U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, which includes Mumford & Sons, OneRepublic, or The Lumineers, while Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will open in Europe.
