An industry scooper has claimed that Jennifer Coolidge is in consideration for a mystery role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Coolidge garnered recognition for her outings in A Cinderella Story, Promising Young Woman, Joey, and 2 Broke Girls. She won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for essaying the role of Tanya McQuoid in the first two seasons of the HBO anthology series The White Lotus.
The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge rumored for a Marvel role
Scooper @MyTimeToShineH claimed in a new post on X (formerly Twitter) that Marvel is looking into the prospects of casting Jennifer Coolidge in a “major” role. If this turns out to be true, and she does land the role, it will not be the first time she will appear in a cinematic franchise. Previously, she has played Jeanine Stifler in the American Pie movie series and Paulette Bonafonté in the Legally Blonde films.
“Jennifer Coolidge is being considered for a major role in the MCU,” the post by @MyTimeToShineH reads. “It’s unclear if she’s had a meeting yet, but they’re interested in meeting with her,” it further reads.
Previously, Coolidge expressed interest in joining the MCU. She even speculated on what her character’s powers could be during an interview with E! News at the 2023 SAG Awards. “I would have a toilet in my house that had very high power underneath it,” she said, laughing. “And when anyone came to sit on it, they got shot into the universe,” Coolidge added.
Notably, this isn’t the first time that speculations about Coolidge potentially landing an MCU role have circulated. In January 2023, there were rumors that Coolidge might join the cast of the project that eventually became Agatha All Along and reunite with her White Lotus co-star Aubrey Plaza.
Further, there is confirmation that Coolidge was almost part of another project. Screenwriter Jeff Loveness revealed in February 2023 that Coolidge nearly joined the franchise as Hank Pym’s love interest Linda in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. However, it “never reached beyond a Zoom between ourselves.” Pym mentions Linda’s name in the movie, but she doesn’t appear in person.
Loveness went on to suggest that Coolidge could be Doctor Doom of the MCU. While Robert Downey Jr. has already taken that role, Marvel Comics doesn’t have a shortage of characters that Coolidge can convincingly bring to life.
