The World Health Organization is the foremost leader when addressing the need to combat diseases and ensuring the safety of medicines used in the fight. If you’re looking for an “OK” from somewhere with credibility when it comes to using a particular drug for medicinal purposes, the WHO are basically your go-to know-it-alls.

This week, the organization made an announcement that is undoubtedly great news for weed smokers all around the green globe, maaaaaaan.

Weed Isn’t Harmful, Says Hippies At World Health Organization

The WHO declared that there are no public health risks or addictive properties in cannabidiol (CBD), the compound inside of the stick-icky, marijuana. Tokers around the world, y’all were right all along.

Weed is becoming legalized more and more in the United States. The medicinal use of the drug has long been an option for those dealing with everything from muscle pain to cancer, and the WHO’s investigation revealed that CBD is also useful for epilepsy and palliative care. I’m seeing no negative checkmarks here, folks.

Here’s more from the report, as noted by the Daily Mail:

There is increased interest from Member States in the use of cannabis for medical indications including for palliative care.

Responding to that interest and increase in use, WHO has in recent years gathered more robust scientific evidence on therapeutic use and side effects of cannabis and cannabis components.

Recent evidence from animal and human studies shows that its use could have some therapeutic value for seizures due to epilepsy and related conditions.

Well, there you have it, you guys. Weed is just fine and we shouldn’t be worried about it like opioids and other seriously harmful shit. We can all stop being as paranoid as Dewey Cox in Walk Hard.
