I’m sure we’ve all found ourselves at one point or another rushing to get to someone’s place if there is a big possibility of sex, but I don’t know how many people have actually fled from cops in doing so. Well, Ruben Hughes did.
The 18-year-old was speeding late Saturday night through a Clearwater neighborhood when a cop in an unmarked police car tried to pull him over by flashing his emergency lights. Well Hughes didn’t stop. In fact, according to The Smoking Gun, Hughes accelerated his vehicle and fled.
Hughes was eventually caught, with the help of other police cars in the area. Once arrested, Hughes explained that he “did not see or hear” the cop car’s “emergency equipment.” Hughes also added that he was speeding because he was “trying to meet his girlfriend for relations and he was trying to get there.”
Well, can’t blame him for speeding.
Although I don’t know if it was worth it because Hughes was handcuffed for fleeing and eluding a police officer and then was released after spending 16 hours in custody. This isn’t Hughes’ first run-in with the law as he was also arrested on a vehicle burglary charge earlier this year.
