Even though it’s been almost 30 years since the original Die Hard was released, people are still trying to decide whether or not the Bruce Willis-starring film is a Christmas film or not.
Now that the holiday season is in full swing people are getting comfortable with their loved ones to watch some Christmas movies. Some of those movies? Everything from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to Elf to A Christmas Story. Oh, and some people are watching Die Hard. And why is that? Because some folks have no problem calling it a Christmas movie.
And there are actually people on Twitter debating this. Have a look at the opinions below:
Arguments against it?

Die Hard is about Christmas – it’s a family redemption story about about personal suffering in the service of fellow man, in defiance of systemic avarice. It’s pure Dickens. But with machine guns

It’s just in LA and so it’s hot and therefore doesn’t fit in our traditional Christmas trope.

Anyway, if you’re not into christmas for whatever reason…right there with you. Always remember that DIE HARD is a CHRISTMAS MOVIE and, in my world, it’s THE ONLY CHRISTMAS MOVIE.

Die Hard isn’t a Christmas movie! It’s a movie that happens to be set around Christmas. See also: Brazil and Iron man 3. Addams family values ain’t a Thanksgiving film, and it has more to do with the holiday than DH does. (This is my weird hill to die on 😀 )

Die Hard is the story of a man trying to get to see his kid for Christmas. If it weren’t for the Christmas party, it would be a burglary, not a hostage situation.

So, what do you think?
