I know plenty of people that are married and as many proposal stories that I’ve heard I can guarantee you that I’ve never heard or seen anything quite like this.
A Missouri man named Seth Dixon was all ready to propose to his girlfriend, Ruth Salas. So Dixon took his lady to a lovely bridge over a pond, got down on one knee and was ready to show Salas the $3,000 ring he got her.
And then this happened.
Holy hell.
And this was completely real.
“It’s absolutely real. I wish it wasn’t,” Dixon told the Kansas City Star. “We freaked out,” Salas added. “It ping-ponged from one plank to another. You could hear a little plop.”
A friend of the couple, Maddie Villareal, helped look for the ring, and eventually volunteers showed up with metal detectors. All to look for that ring. And guess what? No luck.
“We probably had 25 people there. I think we had like 12 people in the water all at once,” said wedding photographer Staci Dabney, who attends church with the couple.
A Go Fund Me to replace the ring was started but it was completed with only $261 raised.
Well, if you’re wondering, Salas said yes even without a ring and the couple is getting married on October 21. But dropping a ring into a pond and never finding it isn’t a bad sign, right? Right?
