Hannibal Buress Hired A Lookalike To Attend The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Premiere In His Stead

This is equal parts sensational, spectacular, amazing, and Peter Parker.

Hannibal Buress is a funny dude. I don’t think that was ever up for debate, but he went ahead and sealed it with his latest stunt yesterday, which was hiding in plain sight for all to see…and no one did.

Apparently red carpet movie premieres aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, so Buress went ahead and did what any self-respecting celeb with a small role in a major motion picture and the moolah to do so would: hire a stand-in for $500 bucks to attend the L.A. premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and sit back and laugh.

The plan was twofold, with the first hurtle being to find someone on the sly who looked enough like him to pull off the job. That’s where Twitter came in:

His initial tweet read, “LA. I need a lookalike with solid comedic timing for an event tonight. Pays $500. Email pics to [email protected].” He, of course, followed this up with a joke about how odd it was that both “hanniballookalike1” and “hanniballookalike2” were taken. Once this was complete and a “suitable” double was found in L.A. local Joe Carroll, it was off to the main event, Instagramming all the way.

If the absurdity of it all wasn’t enough already, Buress went for broke by tweeting a photo of himself during a red carpet interview at the live-streamed event, which read “I’m out here at the @SpiderManMovie premiere. In theaters July 8th.” We’re pretty sure the woman asking him questions called him Hannibal Paris, but you be the judge.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have yet to comment, but what could they possibly say to make this any more hilarious than it already is?
