That was probably one hot beat.

So it seems like it’s more than just e-cigarettes and iPhones that are blowing up or going up in flames, because you can now keep an eye on your headphones. And why is that? Well, they might just explode in your ears.

A not-yet identified woman was on a flight from Beijing to Melbourne, when out of nowhere chaos erupted when the headphones in the woman’s ears exploded. The woman had fallen asleep while listening to music and kept the headphones in, and only woke up when she felt a burning sensation on her face.

And this was the aftermath, ladies and gentlemen.

That right there is soot. And as you can tell her hair was singed as well. And it could have been much worse if the woman had not awoken and thrown the headphones to the ground.

“People were coughing and choking the entire way home,” the woman stated, as the smell of burnt metal and plastic remained on board.

The woman also suffered blisters on her hand.

According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the cause of the headphone explosion is being blamed on the batteries, although the brand was not revealed.

And don’t worry, folks. The headphones were tossed in a bucket of water, and are probably more useful than the shitty ones the airlines make you pay for during the flight.
