When we are confronted with a certain situation, we can either fight or take flight, and some people fight. I’m talking about the couple who beat the hell out of an intruder, or the Florida dad who broke a burglar’s nose. And guess who else fought back? Seattle woman Kelly Herron.
Over the weekend, Herron was jogging in Golden Gardens Park when she decided to stop to use the restroom. Unfortunately, Gary Steiner, a 40-year-old registered sex offender, was inside one of the stalls and assaulted Herron. But don’t worry, folks, Herron fought back with some self-defense moves she had learned in a class a few weeks earlier, even shouting “Not today motherfucker!” Now that’s being pure badass.
Here’s what occurred:
“As I was drying my hands, I became aware that something was wrong..”
And that’s when she saw Steiner standing there.
“He immediately took me down to the ground, hit both my knees and legs, and then it was a fight on the bathroom floor, and I just kept screaming, ‘Not today, motherfucker!.'”
Herron fled into a stall, but the creep continued his assault.
“I got into that stall, flipped on my back, and I tried to kick the door lock shut with my foot.”
That didn’t work and Steiner began beating her in the face. But Herron continued to fight back.
“All those little things that I learned in my life … how to punch and everything came back to me. I started to feel like I was going to lose consciousness … but I got another surge of adrenaline, and I reached for the door and was able to get out.”
Herron shared her ordeal on her Instagram.
Thanks also to a passerby, Herron was able to lock Steiner in the bathroom with a carabiner. Incredible.
This scumbag was tossed in jail and charged with attempted rape in the second degree and second degree assault. It isn’t the first time he’s done this either, as Steiner has an assault record against multiple women. But this time around he lost.
