Stupid is as stupid does, sir.
According to Hard Boiled News, a 43-year-old Palmyra man who was arrested for drunk driving last Thursday apparently tried to buy up every single copy of the local newspaper when it came out Saturday morning because he didn’t want anybody in the area to see his mugshot that was printed in it.
The Times of Wayne County “proudly serves” the town of Palmyra as well as every other town in Wayne County by publishing “short items and mug shots of everyone arrested in the county.” Well, James Talbot didn’t want anybody in his hood to see him in that section of the paper, so he tried to purchase every copy before anybody else could get their mitts on it.
New York Man Arrested For DWI Tried To Buy Every Copy Of Local Paper Because His Mugshot Was In It
Unfortunately for the Key Bank executive, the internet has been going strong for quite some time now, and that means everybody in the country was still able to read about how he was not only pulled over for “swerving all over the road” but also for calling the arresting cop an “asshole.”
Talbot then failed field sobriety tests and later “refused to have his fingerprints and mugshot taken, saying he didn’t want his picture to appear ‘in that rag.'” He was charged with DWI and obstruction of justice and later released on $750 bond.
Two days later, Talbot began buying up every copy of the local paper at $1.25 a pop, and it’s reported that he purchased somewhere between 900 to 1,000 of them. However, the fact that the paper has a circulation of 12,000 plus a website means that on top of being known as the town drunk, he’ll also be able to add “village idiot” to his resume. Just like this dude and his crazy mugshot.
