I totally understand why teachers may want a sick note from students who stay home sick, but there are actually employers out there that still require their employees to hand in sick notes. Yes, grownups asking other grownups for sick notes is baffling, and quite pathetic. And the doctor behind the sick note below sees just how ridiculous it is.
Honesty is key, and when it comes to notes some folks do not hold back. That is why this college dude was very honest in the note he left after breaking into a car to steal some chocolate, and this little girl was extremely truthful in sharing her thoughts with her parents after learning Santa Claus isn’t real.
But now let’s take a look at the sick note that one doctor provided to an employer of one of his patients:
This is what the note reads:
“[The patient] has had, by their own report, a cold today and sensibly stayed home from work rather than spreading this to his colleagues/customers.
I have no test for the common cold and therefore believe him/her, however you feel his time and mine should be wasted by making him sit in the walk-in clinic for hours and me spending my time writing a sick note that I could be spending on people who genuinely need my attention. Please reconsider your policy on this – there are surely better ways of wasting your tax dollars.”
It’s bad enough that I have to make up an excuse to avoid working, but now I need a note to prove it, too? What am I, on trial?
