A little bit ago we shared what we believed to be the most amazing whale footage ever captured, but hell, this shark encounter probably tops that one because this is one of the most intense pieces of shark footage filmed in recent memory. If we didn’t know any better we’d assume Hollywood had decided to remake Jaws.
Everyone has been talking about this clip, as most would agree they’ve never seen anything quite like it. The video below, filmed from a trip to Guadalupe, shows a great white shark cage diving trip. Unforunately, it also shows an accident when the shark that was eating the large chunks of tuna tied to the rope near the cage got stuck…while a diver was in the cage. And all hell broke loose. Take a look at the video below thanks to YouTube:
According to the video’s description, when a great white shark lunges and bites something, it is temporarily blinded. Sharks also cannot swim backwards, so this shark lunged at the bait, accidentally hit the side of the cage, was confused and not able to swim backwards, and that’s why it started to panic.
The diver inside the cage ended up outside the bottom of the cage, looking down on two great white sharks. The diver and the shark were both thankfully OK (unlike this dude who had his hand mangled by a shark), as the shark escaped after a few seconds and headed back to the waters where he could continue to take part in shark week every year.
