It’s been a few years since Harley-Davidson put its name behind a race-centric motorcycle. With the debut of its XG750R, its all-new flat track race bike for the AMA Pro Flat Track circuit, Milwaukee’s all-American automaker is back in the game full-time.
Harley-Davidson already built bikes dedicated to speed. It discontinued the race-tuned Sportster XR1200, but the bike builder still offers the V-Rod Muscle for those riders more interested in power and speed over touring comfort. But, the XG750R is built entirely for the dirt track.

The XG750R is the company’s its first entirely new flat track race bike in 44 years. Harley-Davidson put its de facto racing offshoot — the Screamin’ Eagle Factory Team – to work building the XG750R. The utilized the liquid-cooled Harley-Davidson Revolution X V-Twin engine found on the entry-level Harley-Davidson Street 750. A stripped out racing frame from Vance & Hines forces more speed out of that power plant.
The new XG750R is already doing battle on the AMA Flat Track series after entering its first races last month. But, it lives only on the track and is not for sale. However, that could change as the XR1200 ran in both worlds during its stay on the Harley-Davidson assembly lines.
