Check Out This Ultra Rare iPad Pro Designed by Jony Ive

An ultra rare, one-of-a-kind iPad Pro designed by Jony Ive himself will be put up for auction, with Apple submitting the device in order to raise funds for the relocation of the London Design Museum.

Branded ‘Edition 1 of 1′, the 12.9-inch tablet is expected to draw between £10,000 and £15,000 (roughly between $15,000 and $20,000) at auction, with chief designer Ive and his team designing the custom-built device specifically for the Phillips auction house in central London, according to Wallpaper.

The rare design has been anodised with a custom dye, lined with a suede ‘Smart Cover’ created using French leather, and finished with a special orange cover for the Apple Pencil that has been crafted from fine grain Italian calf leather. The auction, branded ‘Time for Design,’ will see profits going to the relocation of the Design Museum from its current location near Tower Bridge, with it set to open up once again in Kensington in November.

The listing doesn’t specify which model of the iPad Pro is being sold at the auction, though we’d expect that such a lofty price tag would mean that it’s the high-end, 256GB version. Ive has made the donation as a result of his long-lasting relationship with the museum, who awarded him their Designer of the Year award in 2003 for his work on the iMac. Bono has also donated to the auction, with him putting up his ‘Irish Falcon’ guitar for sale.
