Mars, a Bluetooth speaker that levitates above its control unit, uses this unique design choice in order to amplify the user’s audio experience and look good whilst doing it.
Developed by design team Crazybaby, they successfully raised over $800,000 via IndieGogo- over 600% of their initial goal – in order to bring Mars into the world, with the innovative, floating speaker garnering a notable amount of attention since its initial unveiling.
It’s not difficult to see why so many are interested in Mars being brought to life, what with its sci-fi aesthetics and 360-degree sound. The cylindrical unit it hovers above also contains a subwoofer, meaning that Mars pack does pack a punch in the audio department, though it’s the sight of it swirling around like a UFO that really sells the speaker. Made possible using magnetic levitation, the speaker automatically takes off when music is playing and lands when it requires charging, with its battery being capable of running for up to 8 hours.
Mars speakers can also be paired with one another, with two of them combined producing a 2.1 stereo sound system for an optimal home theater experience. The speakers can then each be managed using the Mars iOS and Android app, which allows you to control the music playing on your devices, with their short stature also making them relatively portable – they’re even well-equipped for outdoor use, having been constructed using aircraft grade aluminium that makes them both waterproof and very durable.
If you’re in the market for a speaker that doubles up as an impressive conversation piece, then the Mars might just be exactly what you’re looking for.
