It’s good news for Samsung as the company’s latest flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S7, has been called the “best smartphone ever” after receiving a number of perfect scores from various outlets.
The new device has been widely praised for its excellent cameras – touted as the best to have been implemented in a smartphone thus far – fast processors and strong battery life, with it swiftly topping Consumer Report‘s list of the top-rated smartphones.
Alongside this high praise, Forbes also stated that the S7 and S7 Edge’s rear-facing camera “just broke the technological seal,” adding that it’s “a smartphone camera that can offer point and shoot quality (or better) with superior ease-of-use for the average end user.” Trusted Reviews, awarding the device a full 10/10 score, wrote that the phone “raised the bar for every other Android device,” while TechRadar also awarded it top marks, calling the device “iterative perfection.”
This slew of high praise could represent a major breakthrough for Samsung, with the company’s Galaxy range finding itself being overtaken by a handful of its Android competitors in terms of quality, while a healthy amount of former users of the Google operating system converted to iOS following the release of the iPhone 6. If the Galaxy S7 achieves manages to bowl over consumers as it has done with reviewers, then this could prove to be a shot of adrenaline into the arm of the company’s flagging mobile division.
While Samsung’s profits fell below analysts’ estimates in the fourth quarter of 2015, the dip in profits accrued by the company’s mobile division fall in line with the rest of the marketplace, as budget smartphones continue to increase in popularity in regions such as China. However, assuming that the S7’s sales will be bolstered by the high praise heaped upon the handset, the company could see more favorable results during this financial year.
