‘Fans of London’ Contest Opens Up ‘World’s Most Tweeted About’ City

Fresh off the news that it’s the “world’s most tweeted about” travel destination, London is inviting its fans to compete for a special look at their favorite country.

The City of London and VisitLondon.com are sponsoring the Fans of London competition, offering special, up close look at four aspects of the city’s history and culture. Fans can pick from Royal London, Harry Potter’s London, Shakespeare’s London and London’s Music History. Entrants can take a shot at any or all of those experiences with an equal chance to win.

The Royal Experience includes a look inside Kensington Palace and its current look at the fashion of the Royal Family, Fashion Rules. The Harry Potter version will include a walking tour of the movie’s London settings and a trip to Warner Bros. Studios’ Making of Harry Potter Tour. The Music side will look at The Rolling Stones and the stars of the British Invasion. Finally, Shakespeare’s London will obviously include a theater experience at The Globe Theater.

This sweepstakes is another move to keep London at the top of Europe’s tourist attractions, as the recent Twitter survey already indicated. According to a London & Partners study, the city is the most talked about travel destination on Twitter. Research complied by Spredfast and Hoppa shows London was mentioned on Twitter 630,222 times last year — almost 200,000 times more than the second most noted city, Paris.

Organized with the cooperation of British Airways and Hilton Hotels, Fans of London competition is underway now with the winning trips all scheduled for summer, 2016.
