Earl’s Juke Joint‘s Award-winning bartender Pasan Wijesena has just announced he will be opening a David Lynch themed bar on Sydney’s Enmore Road, with Earl’s bar manager James Fury and bartender Adrian Sanchez coming along for the ride, Time Out reports.
Taking over the space previously occupied by Anna Thai at 154 Enmore Road, the venue will splice references from Lynch’s films into a Tiki style bar named Jacoby. In fact the team have already started to put together a list of classic old-era tropical cocktails like Mai Tais, Singapore Slings and Zombies.
In a nod to Twin Peaks there will even be black coffee on offer, as well as a food menu that so far only includes a cheese sandwich. In fact Lynch’s iconic television series is the main cultural touchstone for the bar, which is named after one of the series’ more memorable characters Dr Lawrence Jacoby.
In keeping with its namesake’s obsession with Hawaiian culture, it’s also been confirmed the bar will feature a 70s-style mural of a Hawaiian sunset with banana frond wallpaper. Lush.
With Jamaican beer Red Stripe reported to possibly be the sole tap beer available, the tropical theme seems to extend throughout the bar, although the real focus of the bar will be on spirits, with Rum in particular and other dark spirits and local gins front and centre.
Jacoby is set to open at 154 Enmore Rd this spring. In the meantime check out this classic scene from Twin Peaks featuring Dr Jacoby to get a sense of the madness to come.
