Her name is Elona Lebedeva.
The first glimpse I caught of her was online. She’d shot with one of the photographers whose work I followed back in Russia. I didn’t know who she was, but the images were amazing, and they are still in my inspiration folder. Not too long ago she moved to L.A. from Miami, pursuing her modeling career. We have a few mutual friends, since she was living in Moscow for 8 years, so we got along pretty quick.
We shot at 1906 Studios in Downtown, which was a bit too modern for my taste, but the light and windows in the space made my pixels perfect (*hehehe*). I took my inspiration from old school magazines that were shot on film, and screamed TEXTURE. I’m a fan of film, and I try to shoot it when I get a chance, but sometimes it’s not too practical, so this round I went with with digital and post.
Beginning in the morning, the day of the shoot was not so pleasant, so I really needed something to cheer me up. But once at the studio, there was just me, Elona, and a beautiful warm set. When I saw the images we’d created, everything just faded away.
