Watch Of The Week | Omega Globemaster

Omega is synonymous with luxury watches and timepieces of the highest caliber. They created a scene-stealing star with their limited edition Seamaster 300, worn by Daniel Craig in the most recent James Bond film, Spectre. But Omega has now created a timepiece that goes well beyond the scope of their previous oeuvres and puts the brand front and center in the conversation of Haute Horlogerie.

Introducing, the Omega Globemaster.

A functional work of art you can wear on your wrist, the Globemaster is the world’s first master chronometer –  a unique certification bestowed by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). The Globemaster utilizes a co-axial chronometer housed in a 39 mm timepiece with classic pie-pan dial, styled after the Omega Constellation, which first appeared in 1952. The central hour, minute and seconds hands are delicately coated in Super-LumiNova, with a date indicator at the 6 o’clock position on the dial and Omega’s finely understated signature at the top.

Available in 18K Sedna™ gold, 18K yellow gold and stainless steel, the Globemaster’s dial is surrounded by a fluted bezel with smoothed ridges. Styles and color variations abound (one of our favorites being the citrus blue dial paired with blue leather strap for a cool and pristine palette), but each Globemaster is independently tested to achieve the same standard of timekeeping greatness from one style to the next, regardless of color or material. Add to that the standard domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and you don’t have bling, but bravado.

The sheer luxuriousness of the Omega Globemaster will be on full display tomorrow, March 1, 2016, at an exclusive event held at Mack Sennett Studios in Los Angeles, with Academy Award winner and new brand ambassador Eddie Redmayne playing host to a who’s who of Hollywood’s style and entertainment elite. But you needn’t attend to own this particular piece of timekeeping history. The Omega Globemaster is available at Omega boutiques nationwide starting at $6,900, with editions up to $40,700.
