Founded in 2012, IVI Vision creates the best black out shades on the market. While the eyewear company makes some frames in trendy colorways, like blood orange or ivory, it’s their sleek black frames, with dark lenses, that may just make you feel like a celebrity driving around the streets of your neighborhood.
Not only is each pair of shades handmade, but the brand also invests heavily in the materials they source. The 100% UVA, UVB lenses are made by the renowned Carl Zeiss Vision, who has over 165 years of experience. The lenses are durable and offer exceptional clarity when worn. (Plus a few models are even available polarized.)

Moving on to the frames, IVI partnered with Italian manufacturer, Mazzuchelli, to develop lightweight, sturdy and good looking acetate frames. Colorways include demure solids, mattes, tortoise iterations and some versions that pop, like the Division in electric blue.
It all comes together with the hardware. IVI uses super accessible aluminum, (actually the most abundant material in the Earth’s crust, according to their development page), and silver nickel, which is resistant to corrosion, to bring these sunnies together.
With all the high-quality goods that go into them, the attention to detail and the hand craftsmanship, you would probably expect a high price tag. Instead, IVI frames are incredibly reasonably priced — between about $130-170, and come with a lens wipe, soft & hard case. Well made shades may still get old, but these will stand up for quite some time.
