Winter is coming, and so is a thirst! Game of Thrones fans will be getting a new craft beer before the series returns for its sixth season on HBO in 2016.
HBO and Ommegang have announced that Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale will be the sixth premium draft Game of Thrones beer beginning in March 2016. Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale will reportedly feature a mixture of American ale and “ a traditional Belgian-style wheat” with a 6.9% ABV.
“We love bringing as much inspiration, thoughtfulness and creativity to the Game of Thrones beers as we can,” said Ommegang’s manager of Brewing, Mike McManus. “This last season, the [imagination] of the show was pretty astounding so we aimed for a beer that could hope to match that. A fusion of two wonderful styles was an idea that really excited our team.”

HBO’s Josh Goodstadt added his own thoughts to the statement.”With Seven Kingdoms, Ommegang has crafted another excellent brew which we know our fans will love. The world of Westeros is varied and complex and this varietal embodies those characteristics while offering a new and unique taste to beer drinkers.”
Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale will be available on draft and in bottles for $9.99 per bottle. Because of the popularity of Ommegang’s previous Game of Thrones draft beers, Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale will be brewed at 3.5 times the volume of the first Game of Thrones beer.
Game of Thrones Season 6 will premiere in April 2016 on HBO.
