David Cameron Criticises Twitter Following Pig-Gate

It seems that David Cameron is still a little sore after Twitter users wouldn’t let him brush over “pig-gate”, with the Prime Minister suggesting that Twitter users aren’t “decent, sensible” nor “reasonable” in his speech to the Conservative Party conference.

“The vast majority of people aren’t obsessives, arguing at the extremes of the debate,” he said, continuing: “Let me put it as simply as I can: Britain and Twitter are not the same thing. The British people are decent, sensible, reasonable.”

Cameron was hounded on Twitter following the allegations that, during his University days, he placed his penis inside the decapitated head of a pig as part of an initiation ceremony. The PM hasn’t openly acknowledged these allegations, though many in the Conservative Party have denied the event having ever taken place.

Unfortunately for him, this didn’t prevent Twitter users from targeting him on the social network, with Cameron’s tweets following the publishing of the controversial story being largely met with “oinks” and insults centred around his alleged lude act.

Even a tweet sent out to his 1.2 million followers prior to his speech was met with pig-related jokes at his expense from other users:

Judging from the comments made during his speech, it seems that no love is lost between the PM and the social network.
