App Reveals Where to Find Cheap French Pastries

Have you ever found yourself wandering through Paris, wondering where you can find a croissant or a clafoutis or a nice cup of Teurgoule for cheap? A new French app called OptiMiam is here to help. High end bakeries, as you well know, rarely keep pastries overnight, preferring to offer customers only the freshest possible ingredients. This often means that they’ll have to throw away large amounts of unsold food on a daily basis. Sometimes you might see “day old” deals at certain bakeries, but this cannot cover the sheer volume of cakes and pastries produced, and a lot has to be disposed of.

OptiMiam an app that gathers local bakeries together to announce what bargains they have at the end of the day, luring salivating subscribers to their still-fresh croissant plates. It provides addresses, special deals, or just alerts.

Food wastage is a bane of most food service businesses, but, additionally, it’s also a big problem in a world where some people go hungry. A large percentage of our food, here in the First World, is merely thrown away. OptiMiam not only offers up sweet deals, but seeks to make a mild political shift in the way we handle food.

Planning on going to Paris? Make sure OptiMiam is on your to-get list along with the usual Let’s Go guides.
