Comic fans, it’s almost time to get your drink on at New York Comic Con!
NYCC and New York Super Week have once again teamed up with Brooklyn Brewery for The Brooklyn Defender, a special IPA that was created as the official beer of New York Comic Con 2015 and New York Super Week.
According to New York Comic Con’s web page, the new Brooklyn Defender is “a bright, juicy IPA with a reddish twist from a dash of roasted malt that galvanizes its drinkers’ inner superhero.”
This year, The Brooklyn Defender character got a redesign from comic artist Khary Randolph (Spider-Man, The Boondocks). Unlike other superheroes, The Brooklyn Defender’s mission in life is to “defend beer,” and to save regular people from “tasteless beer.”
“The new Brooklyn Defender is the modern Brooklyn hero, saving many from dangerously bland nights,” said Randolph. “He embodies Brooklyn and the Ft. Greene/Clinton Hills neighborhoods – reflecting the sports and hip hop cultures that are prevalent there. The Brooklyn Defender uses his athleticism and other skills to defend beer and all those who stand behind it!”
A launch party on September 9th will be the official unveiling of The Brooklyn Defender. On October 5th, New York Super Week begins, and The Brooklyn Defender will be available in a few bars and restaurants in New York City through the end of Super Week and NYCC.
You can RSVP to the Brooklyn Defender launch party here.
