Melbourne Fringe Festival has announced its 2015 return, with 6000 visual, musical and performance artists set to showcase their talents over 19 days between 16th September and 4th October, making this year’s event the biggest in its history.
As Speaker TV reports, Melbourne Fringe Festival 2015 will ask punters to “look between the lines” at its 401 events held at 174 different venues around the city. The festival is promising to strip back the layers of life, and challenge traditional conceptions of art.
As Fringe Festival Creative Director and CEO Simon Abrahams says:
“Melbourne Fringe is not here to present you with the obvious or the tried or the tested. This year’s Festival is about independent artists taking risks, safe in the knowledge that they have an audience who are equally audacious and share their sense of artistic adventure.”
This year, North Melbourne’s Arts House will once again act as the Fringe Festival’s central hub, while Fringe Furniture is set to return for its 29th year, with 120 works on display at Abbotsford Convent’s Sacred Heart Chapel.
Fringe Film will take over the Fringe Club, while public art will appear in ordinary public places beginning on 11th August.
