N.Y. Collections | Rochambeau S/S16

Rochambeau is French for the popular rock-paper-scissors game. As such, each of the members of this fashion house bring their own individual strength to the table. Rochambeau designers Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper presented not only a clean, yet relaxed collection, it also played up the idea of mixing proportions in a very interesting way.

Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler, both 26, met in New York City, and are the business core of the team. Emerging from a family background in the print industry, a sector closely related to the fashion industry, the guys cultivated relationships within fashion, taking plenty of notes along the way. Their look books have also garnered critical acclaim (this Spring Summer season is no exception) and have been shown in galleries alongside artwork from Victor Demarchelier and Alexandra Richards.

This season the designers offered a sporty, sleek aesthetic with many highlights, including lightweight parkas, elongated and over-sized shirts, jogging pants, bomber jackets, sandals with socks and a whole host of other preppy pieces that almost any retailer would be happy to buy into. The New York label’s collection is officially right on trend with it’s loose pants and thin jackets in colors ranging from blush pink and sky blue to navy black and grey.

In addition to sandals, other footwear was supplied by Nike. The Air Mac 90’s and leather Air Max 1S completed each look with comfort and ease. These monochromatic looks fit the personality of men as easily as it does for women. If you thought differently, the season’s collection of Rochambeau will prove you wrong.
