Rosewood Exemplifies London Hotel Luxury

There are undoubtedly people who live every day the way the Rosewood London invites its guests to live while within its friendly confines. I’m going to assume you’re most likely not one of them, and that means an extended stay or just a visit to the central London hotel will offer both courteous hospitality and a glimpse into a different level of service.

Located just steps away from the Holborn Underground stop, the Rosewood sits in a busy, accessible stretch of Central London. Set in a private courtyard offering some shelter from the sidewalk commuter flow, the hotel honors classic, stately British architecture with low light warming brass and wood. Before entering, the doorman welcomes you and ushers you to the front desk. From that point forward, every staff member you encounter is utterly courteous, formal and focused entirely on service. The guest is invited to behave accordingly.

Upon checkin, the guest is assigned a butler who will attend to whatever need arises within the suite or anywhere on the property. Technically, he or she should really be called a valet, as a butler is usually head of a household servant staff. This is only one individual assigned to the suite — and he or she is not your personal servant. The butler is on call to make sure the suite is serviced with whatever might be needed and to facilitate a guest’s access to everything the Rosewood offers.

Those facilities include the elite Sense Spa and a completely appointed fitness center, should you decide to stay in the hotel. But, the Rosewood’s outstanding venue offers plenty of attractions to beckon the visitor — including the world famous and free British Museum a mere 10 minute walk from the Rosewood’s gates.

This London hotel offers different accommodation levels, including rooms, suites and signature suites. Obviously, each subsequent class adds space and enhanced decor. Regardless, every inch of the guest’s space is immaculate and comfortable. The guest is greeted with fruit and pastries as well as multiple guides to London attractions.

The Rosewood’s dining options are not only a reason to stay at the hotel, but they serve as top neighborhood attractions for locals. The main Dining Room is the hotel’s premiere F&B attraction, offering formal, multi-course culinary experiences. If the London weather cooperates, guests can enjoy breakfast on the beautiful, friendly Courtyard Terrace. The outdoor space is one of the only spots in the hotel that ventures away from London formality, opting for a more playful and relaxed atmosphere.

Amongst the hotel’s amenities, this reporter’s personal favorite had to be the stately, yet mellow Scarfes Bar. A long, polished bar stretches along a wall of spirits and wines from around the world. Hotel guests and trendy locals can also gather at tables or comfortable chairs around the bookshelves and a roaring fireplace. The alluring staff maintains the formal service, even while local jazz performers counter the warm ambiance with cool tunes.

Scarfes is the rare kind of upscale bar that allows a man to sit and read a book or contemplate his adult beverage in style before sliding to a side table to enjoy a conversation with friends. It’s a place intended for comfort and conversation — for socializing more than posing. It’s about class. All that it lacks is a spot to enjoy a good cigar, but that’s the fault of London, not the Rosewood.
