The university filled with the happiest students in the UK has been revealed, and despite students being forced to look towards the grim reality that post-graduate jobs aren’t as desirable nor as plentiful as they once were, there are many who are continuing to enjoy life in further education.
The Times Higher Education Survey revealed that while student happiness is overall lower than it was last year, there are still a number of universities which boasts students who are happy to be pursuing their degrees within their walls.
The survey asked 14,700 students from across the UK to rank their respective universities across 21 different categories, which would lead to a final score out of 100. The survey saw universities averaging at 74.7, against 75.5 in the previous survey, with Bath coming out on top closely followed by Loughborough and Sheffield, with them missing out on the top point by fractions of a point.
University of Oxford lost out to its smaller rivals.
Here are the top 10 universities with the happiest students, as revealed by the survey:
- Bath (83.6)
- Loughborough (83.3)
- Sheffield (83.1)
- Cambridge (82.9)
- Oxford (82.7)
- Surrey (82.3)
- East Anglia (82.3)
- Exeter (82)
- Leeds (81.9)
- Newcastle (81.6)
Outside of England, the top-ranked university in Scotland was Dundee in 12th place, while Wales’ Cardiff university was the top of its region in 29th place.
The Times reports that the study revealed that the bigger universities were less favorable than the smaller universities, with Cambridge and Oxford being among the most distinguished higher education establishments but still losing out to Bath. They did, however, both make the top 10.
