Needing to refocus and make a splash in the competitive automotive business, Acura turned to a re-creation of a classic favorite — the comeback of its NSX supercar at NAIAS 2015.
It was already a year for supercars to return to auto manufacturing lineups with Ford bringing back its GT on the first media preview day of the North American International Auto Show. While the GT harkens back to the 1960s a series of Le Mans wins, the NSX was born in the 1990s — emerging as one of that decade’s iconic, mid-engine supercars. It stayed in the Acura lineup for 15 years, fading away in 2005.

There had been rumors for some time that the NSX would return to pep up Acura’s line, and this would seem a long overdue addition, In recent years, Acura (Honda’s sister company and maker of the tandem’s luxury cars — sort of akin to Lexus and its relationship with Toyota) has lost focus, offering a limited line of alpha-numeric cars that faired well enough without making a major dent in the affordable luxury realm.
The NSX will get buyer to sit up and take not of Acura again.
In keeping with 21st century themes, the new NSX will be a gas hybrid, capable of putting out 500 horsepower. A V6 will join with two electric motors and a nine speed transmission and all-wheel drive to guarantee that full supercar buzz.
