Snapchat Hacked Photos are Being Leaked After All

It was reported earlier this week that around 200,000 Snapchat users were hacked via third-party website and app SnapSaved.com and Snapsave. The alleged hacker released a statement explaining how they would not leak the images they had obtained, though today it has been revealed that this may not be the case, as it appears that the images are now circulating online.

This news comes after George Sampson, a former winner of UK TV show Britain’s Got Talent, had several naked photos of him appear online. There have also been reports that a 13GB cache of Snapchat photos are currently being posted on image board 4chan.

A list of account names that had allegedly been the victim of this hacking was posted online yesterday, with the alleged hacker claiming that they only hacked the servers of Snapsaved.com/Snapsave to highlight the dangers of sharing explicit images online. Snapsaved.com, which is not affiliated with Snapsave, issued a statement regarding the hacking, saying: “As soon as we discovered the breach in our systems, we immediately deleted the entire website and the database associated with it.

“As far as we can tell, the breach has effected 500MB of images, and 0 personal information from the database.”

Snapchat also responded to the controversy though distanced itself from any wrongdoing, stating that its users were to blame for accessing the site through third-party apps, something which the company condemns in its Terms of Service. : “Snapchatters were victimized by their use of third-party apps to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we expressly prohibit in our ToU,” the company wrote in a statement.
