Hackers Add Leaked Naked Photos to Jennifer Lawrence’s Wikipedia Page

Jennifer Lawrence’s Wikipedia page was updated with leaked naked photos of the actress, after comments she made about the iCloud hacking to Vanity Fair made their way online.

Lawrence branded the hacking, which saw naked photos of herself and many other female celebrities make their way online through an iCloud leak, a “sex crime,” saying: “It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting.” On the same day as these comments were made public, two of the leaked naked pictures were added to her Wikipedia page, before being deleted 20 minutes later.

As Lawrence’s Wikipedia page is semi-protected, users need to be registered members of Wikipedia in order to edit it. According to Jezebel, “it appears that the account in question was not associated with any of Wikipedia’s editors but was a sock puppet – an account made to look as though it was legitimate. In order to remove the images entirely, a Wikipedia administrator deleted the entire comments page and started again, which is why no record of the edits or that file exists on history page.”

The photos of the Hunger Games actress were obtained through her iCloud profile, with other female celebrities such as Kaley Cuoco, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna also being hacked. These images were then leaked onto image board 4chan, before being circulated widely on Reddit. The subreddit that contained the images was later deleted.
